Berlin based music software company has just released the Ableton Live Update 8.3, now featuring Soundcloud integration and autoupdate. Ableton Live now comes with 6 months premium membership for SoundCloud.

For all the SoundClouders Ableton gives away for free a copy of Ableton Live Lite 8.3. This might be especially interesting for producers using a different DAW like Emagic’s erm Apple’s Logic, Steinberg’s Cubase or Propellerhead’s Reason at the moment. [Muzaq] Bitwig Prepping To Launch Beta of Bitwig Studio Soon

The Berlin based company Bitwig has eventually presented some details about their upcoming music software BitwigStudio. Bitwig Studio is targeting at professional and semi-professional musicians for producing and using live.

Features in Version 1.0

In addition to what people would expect like VST support, there seem to be some groundbreaking new features to be coming already in version 1.0:

  • dual heading for the use of several displays
  • Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and LINUX support (!!)
  • working on multiple documents
  • multiple automizations

Upcoming Features After  Version 1.0

Bitwig also announced features to be upcoming after version 1.0:

  • LAN multi-user jamming
  • multi-user music production via Internet
  • Native modular synthesizer/effects system

Background

The Bitwig company has been founded by former Ableton developers in 2008. They are located in Berlin/Germany.

Closed Beta Test

Although there is no reliable information at the moment about release dates, you can apply here for a beta test starting soon.

Forum threads indicate there is a tiny chance that Ableton might sue Bitwig for cloning parts of Live’s GUI, in legal terms for violating the protection of registered designs.

Berlin based Company Neofonie now presented their latest high-tech gadget called WePad. The We Pad will be cheaper than the iPad. The WePad will be Adobe Flash enabled.

  • Multitouch display 11,6″ with 1,366 x 768 pixels
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • WLAN 802.11a/b/g/n

The operating system will be a multitouch adjusted Linux. Software can be installed as widgets. Open Office will be available. It is compatible to

[Muzaq] Former Universal CEO Calls For Culture Flatrate

Former CEO of Universal Music Germany Tim Renner has called for a culture flatrate in the german Rolling Stone magazine.

Renner said, potential music buyers could be offered unlimited access to the music industry’s repositories for €12,90 (~US$17,50) per month.

Furthermore at the address of the music industry he argues: “Instead of fighting with ghosts, it’s all about starting a business”.

In 2004 Renner left Universal Music and wrote the book “Kinder, der Tod ist gar nicht so schlimm” (~”Kids, the death is not as bad as it seems”) – his personal opinion to the music industry’s future.

[Muzaq] Sinclair: Cold in Berlin

London based Electro-Pop producer Sinclair seem to have visited Berlin during the last eight weeks. Yes since the end of december 2009 Berlin is full of snow.

You think: snow? Are those Berlin people crazy? Yes, we are. Snow is kinda very rare here in Berlin, although the winter gets very cold here and temps go down to -20 degrees celsius. Anyway now we had snow and even more snow and lots of more snow for the last eight weeks.

She seem to have taken some pics on her trip to snowy Berlin and used them in the vid for her song: “Cold in Berlin”.
