According to the german Heise.de and Golem.de Microsoft will make Windows 7 RC 1 on May 5, 2009 available for download. A beta version of the Windows 7 to Windows XP compatibility feature called XPM (we reported) will be available on April 30, 2009.
XPM is in fact a complete Virtual Machine of Windows XP using a special version of Microsoft’s Virtual PC, thus making Windows 7 about 100% compatible to Windows XP.
Our german fellow Holger Meyer strikes again. After his awarded ear training program Karajan (our report) he now founded a company and cooperates with vTuner from New York.
What is vTuner?
vTuner allows you to turn your iPod Touch or iPhone into a radio receiver. You can listen to more than 7,000 radio stations from all over the entire planet. You can choose frmo 50 genres, 120 countries and 50 languages and eventually set favourite.
Moreover you can get information about upcoming shows and shows currently playing. A really nice-to-have feature is the integrated webbrowser. It allows you to surf the net while listening to your chosen radio streams. You don’t need to leave vTuner.
What else?
Congrats from Berlin. This app is definitely a-must-have for all guys loving muzaq.
The WinSuperSite reports today that Windows 7 will include a very nice feature called Windows XP Mode (XPM). By having this mode available Windows 7 will be able to run almost any Windows program that is currently available on the market.
What is XPM?
XPM is a technology that is derived from the Virtual PC technology. Meaning: XPM is a complete Windows XP with SP3 included. In contrast to earlier Virtual PC environments XPM will not require to run Windows XP as a separated desktop. In fact, XPM installed applications are published to Windows 7 aswell and will appear as if they were native Windows 7 applications. Shortcuts will be put into the Windows 7 Start Menu. Windows XP and Windows 7 applications can thus be run side by side.
Availability of XPM
Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate users will be allowed to download XPM from Microsoft’s website. It will not be shipped with the Windows 7 boxes.
Amazon has opened their music download service for german customers. About 5 million MP3’s can be downloaded. Prices vary between 0.77€ and 0.99€. Complete albums start at 4.95€.
Amazon does not use DRM techniques. MP3’s are encoded at 256KBit/sec. By using the MP3 format these files can be played on virtually any digital portable music player.
Downloading requires Amazon’s MP3-Downloader. Amazon supports all major operating systems like Windows, MacOS X and Linux (Debian 4, Ubuntu 9, OpenSuSE 11, Fedora 9). The growing number of Linux users will most likely appreciate a way to legally buy and download music.
SRWare just updated their Iron browser, which is based on Google’s Chromium source code. It now contains improved support for website embedded videos and PDF documents and it blocks advertisements – so don’t use it when visiting our pages ;-)
Eventually the iPhone Dev Team released QuickPwn 2.1 for Windows. They really don’t seem to sleep never. It supports firmware 2.1. It jailbreaks, activates and unlocks iPhone 2G devices and jailbreaks iPhone 3G. It sadly still does not unlock iPhone 3G. Using is very straightforward. Kudos to the Dev Team :-)
As Holger Meyer puts it: “Karajan is an easy to use music and ear training application for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It provides lessons for learning to recognize intervals, chords, scales, pitch and tempo (bpm) with detailed statistics. Karajan is a great tool for music theory students, whether they are in junior high, high school, or college. It is also very useful for every hobby musician.”
What we say
Karajan is our APP OF THE WEEK. Karajan is pure fun. Improving our music skills is fairly easy with this program. Karajan includes:
Intervals
Chords
Scales
Pitch
Tempo (BPM)
5 built in instruments
Pre defined and individual levels
Detailed statistics function
Reverse play
4 different play modes
Karajan is available in two versions. The beginner version does not include all functions, but is free of charge. Get it from the AppStore (links are provided below). For first testing purposes this is the app of your choice.
Karajan is really easy to handle. See this video here:

Running news clients with the built-in Windows Firewall, you will usually get fullspeed when accessing the usenet. Problems occur when you use All-in-One Internet-Firewall-and-Virus-Scan solutions. Since Virus-Scanners and Firewalls tend to scan all the network traffic with heuristic algorithms, scanning may slow down internet (and usenet) access. The following article demonstrates how to configure the widely spread Kaspersky Internet Security to allow fullspeed access to the usenet.
Preparations
We assume you know how to setup your news client and you already installed Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS).
Setting up KIS
Open up your KIS and do the following:
click the Settings Button (see picture)
on the next window click the Threats and Exclusions Button (see picture)
on the next window click the Add Button (see picture)
on the next window click the Do not scan network traffic Checkbox (see picture) and then click the Browse Button to choose your News Client (see picture).
Then save your settings and restart your News Client application and you’re done.
More questions? Don’t hesitate to ask below. Thanks for your attention :-)
One day before the official launch of the iPhone 3G, over here in Germany the Appstore is already accessable. This comes in a moment where some sites and forums rumor that the new 2.0 firmware can also already be downloaded for offline update. We recommend to not download the 2.0 firmware yet. The Pwnage tool does not support firmware 2.0. Be warned if you brick your iPhone.
How to access AppStore (one day before offical launch)
start iTunes
open the iTunes Store
search for an App like Super Monkey in the iTunes Store
et voilà
Types of programs you can buy or download for free
The AppStore is a major step into the right lane. Apple did the right thing here. Prices vary depending on the application. The highest price we’ve seen yet is 25.99€ for “Universalis”. “Universalis” contains psalms, prayers and readings from the Catholic Liturgy. Believing in God seems to require the iPhone nowadays.
Even Erica Sadun (kudos!) got some titles into the AppStore, like her famous To Do List, that we all know from the AppTab Installer days.
Enuff said: get yourself an own impression and start your iTunes, now…
