[e-Biz] A Nasty Conspiracy Behind Psystar?

What might sound like a conspiracy book by John Grisham is reality. Apple obviously believes that another company or even companies are secretly backing up Psystar. Groklaw.net explains that this might be an explanation why a major law firm took this case. Apple’s lawyers wrote:

(..) Apple will seek leave to amend this complaint to show the unknown John Doe Defendants’ true names and capacities when they are ascertained.(..)

Apple seeks revenge and these new claims read badly for Psystar. Apple even added claims for DMCA violation. So the main question is: Is Psystar about to go down, or do they have aces in their sleeves? You may find the whole article on Growlaw.net.

Unimpressed by this current development Psystar is continuing to sell their MacClones…

We just yesterday reported, that the Miami based company Psystar Corporation began to offer Mac Clones. Since yesterday the name changed from “OpenMac” to “Open Computer“. We don’t have information if this is due to legal demands coming from Apple, but besides that: Psystar now also offers a MacPro clone – going under the name “OpenPro Computer“.

The OpenPro Computer includes the following features:

  • unknown motherboard
  • Core 2 Duo 2.6GHz
  • 2GB memory
  • 150GB Sata 10,000rpm
  • NVidia GeForce 8600GT 512MB
  • 999 US$

The system can be pre-loaded with

  • Windows XP Pro (+ $150)
  • Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit (+ $150)
  • Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit (+ $150)
  • Apple OS X Leopard 10.5 (+ $155)

Three different cases can be chosen:

  • Silver (std.)
  • Black (+ $50)
  • Mirror (+ $90)

We feel like those cases look very nice… What do you think?

Gerade gestern haben wir über die in Miami ansässige – mutige – Psystar Corporation berichtet. Psystar biete deit gestern Mac Nachbau Rechner an. Allerdings sind schon die ersten Änderungen zu verzeichnen. Von gestern zu heute wurde klammheimlich der Name Geräts von “OpenMac” nach “Open Computer” geändert. Uns liegen keinerlei Informationen vor, ob das nur vorauseilende Gehorsam gegenüber Apple war oder schon wegen einer ersten Kontaktaufnahme von Apples Rechtsabteilung. Was auch immer der Grund ist, Psystar hat heute das Spektrum erweitert und bietet nun einen weitere Klon an, der den MacPro angreifen soll. Das Gerät trägt den wundervollen Namen “OpenPro Computer“.

Der OpenPro Computer beinhaltet in der Grundausstattung folgende Komponenten:

  • unbekanntes Motherboard
