The PC version of the long awaited game Grand Theft Auto IV has yesterday been released to the european markets. First tests show the game is as outstanding as its console versions, released earlier this year. Anyway forums are full of bug reports by people using ATI based graphic cards. The game crashs even before it gets started. NVidia users also report issues, but at least it starts after some starting attempts.
The german Gamestar.de is currently doing a poll. This poll (with currently n=4787) shows that about 75% of the users experiencing heavy issues like permanent crashes. Only 5% say GTA runs seamless without issues.
You may rethink your Chrismas wishlist at this time. What about a Playstation 3? Besides the fact that the game plays wonderful on that device, it’s also got a Bluray/DVD/mp3/Xvid/DivX player included ;-)
Rockstar Games eventually releases Grand Theft Auto 4 for the PC gaming community. December 2nd, 2008 will be the day when people will raid over gaming stores all over the world. It is for sure that this game will be the megaseller in december as it has proved for the console gamers in may.
In contrast to the console version the PC version requires online activation – but Rockstar learned from the Spore desaster and lets you activate your copy of GTA4 as often as you like and once activated it simply runs, no annoying re-activations required.
As a bonus feature for the PC community Rockstar included a video editor (see video below). Using the video editor you can record and convert videos of your most stunning stunts and actions scenes. Anyway we never missed it when playing the PS3 version.
Even Barack Obama just mentioned Grand Theft Auto IV in a speech some days ago. Although he did not really bash it, he reminded the audience that video games nowadays also mint children (even though GTA has gotten M Rating in the U.S.). Nonetheless Rockstargames announced GTA IV topped the $500 million in sales in its first week of release.
And Rockstar Games are moving on, they just released a GTA IV (Grand Theft Auto 4) Screensaver for Apple Mac OS X Leopard and Tiger and for Microsoft Windows Vista, and XP. Although the screensaver just contains still images, it really motivates to play that game. Let’s see how long I will be able to hold it before I will buy it ;-)
