The american news service Informationweek.com and the german news service Golem.de today report, that Apple will abandon their business model to have only one single carrier per country to offer their iPhone. In Italy Vodafone (see our report here) and Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) will offer iPhone contracts. Here are the facts:
- TIM will offer factory unlocked iPhones, that can be used with other carriers.
- iPhone price will be more expensive than in other countries
- TIM will offer a 3G (UMTS) version of the iPhone
- TIM will exclusively offer the iPhone for 6 months after first release
