[iPhone] ZiPhone 3.0 released: use at own risk!!!

Zibri released ZiPhone in version 3.0. Features as follows:

  • no need for fixing NVRam
  • solution for grayed WiFi
  • no need for YouTube fixes
  • installs base applications automatically during jailbreak (z.B. BSD Subsystem, Installer etc.)

Known issues:

  • WiFi gets this hardcoded MAC address: 00:5a:49:42:52:49 (translates to “ZIBRI” in hexadecimal/ascii notation), this will most likely cause errors in networks, where you have more than only one of the iPhones…
  • the base applications are the BSD subsystem and the Installer. Installation is forced and cannot be stopped. Means: you will run into severe problems if you wanna use the newer Debian based Telesphoreo/Cydia aptitude system.

But all in all: Thumbs up for Zibri-

Zibri hat ZiPhone in Version 3.0 veröffentlicht. Features:

  • manuelles Fixen des NVRam nicht mehr nötig
  • Lösung für graues WiFi Menü
  • YouTube Fix nicht mehr nötig
  • installiert Base Applikations während des Jailbreaks (z.B. BSD Subsystem, Installer etc.)

Bekannte Schwierigkeiten:

  • Die WiFi Lösung ist besser als keine, nur dass folgende feste MAC Adresse 00:5a:49:42:52:49 verwendet wird (aus hexadezimalem Ascii nach Text übersetzt: “ZIBRI”), dies wird mit Sicherheit zu Problemen führen, wenn man mehr als ein iPhone in einem Netzwerk anmelden will, weil dann mehrere iPhones die gleiche MAC Adresse haben würden…
  • Mit dem Jailbreak werden das BSD Subsystems und der Installer automatisch installiert und kann nur mithilfe eines (nicht massenkompatiblen) Tricks wieder deinstalliert werden. Für Leute, die das neuere Debian basierte Telesphoreo/Cydia Aptitude System verwenden wollen, ist das so keine sehr schöne Lösung

Alles in allem aber: THUMBS UP for Zibri.

All of us switchers know the situation: rather that switching from one application to another in Microsoft Windows we can switch from every window to another using ALT-TAB. The problem is such behaviour is not known to the Mac world. A major solution for that problem comes from Peter Maurer. He developed a prefpane named Witch, that mimics exactly that behaviour known from the MS-Windows world. Moreover it can maximize minized windows when switching to them. And the best thing is: it is donation ware. Send Peter some Euros or US Dollars, he really deserves it…

Wir Switcher kennen das folgende Problem genau: Unter Microsoft Windows wechselt man mit ALT-TAB nicht nur zwischen Applikationen, sondern auch zwischen Fenstern einer gleichen Applikation. Eine solche Funktionalität ist der Mac Welt bislang (eigentlich) nicht bekannt. Eine großartige Lösung hat Peter Maurer entwickelt. Er hat eine PrefPane Erweiterung geschrieben, die die aus der MS-Windows Welt bekannten Fenster-Wechseln Eigenschaften durchführen kann. Daneben kann es noch minimierte Fenster bei Anwählen aus dem Dock hervorzaubern. Aber das Beste ist, dass es Donation-Ware is. Schickt also Peter ein paar Eurer Euros oder US Dollars, für das Programm hat er es wirklich verdient…
