[Pre] Palm Pre 2 Coming to France on October 22

German Heise.de and american Precentral.net report today, that HP finished upgrading their smartphone flagship Palm Pre. Interestingly the Palm Pre 2 will be first released to the french market on october 22 on SFR‘s network. Sadly there is no reliable information about when it will hit other markets like the US, Germany or Canada.

The Palm Pre 2 will feature:

  • 1 GHz CPU
  • 5 megapixel camera
  • 3.1″ screen size with 320×480 HVGA display
  • Glass screen
  • 16 GB memory
  • Touchstone backcover included
  • HP webOS 2.0

It is rumored the price will be about 100€ on contract and about 450€ sans contract. HP rebranded Palm’s webOS to HP webOS. The Pre 2 will be shipped with webOS 2.0 preloaded.

[iPhone] How Multi-Tasking is Gonna Look Like

Leaked vid showing multi-tasking on iPhone 3GS

It seems someone has got his hands on a developer beta of iPhone OS 4.0. The vid below shows how multi-tasking is gonna be implemented on the iPhone. We say: yes eventually multi-tasking, but no: Palm’s webOS approach to multi-tasking is unbeaten at the moment. Apple should consider buying Palm. They are cheap and half the staff is former leading elite Apple people anyway ;-)

Apple’s golden rule: product lifecycles are two years, amigos

Sadly although Cydia users know that multi-tasking is possible even on first gen iPhones, Apple will not enable multi-tasking on devices older than iPhone 3GS.

iPhone 2G users already made a bitter experience when MMS was not enabled on their devices with the 3.0 update.

[iPhone] Multi-Tasking With Multifl0w

Multifl0w is an attempt to bring multi-tasking capabilities known from our latest toy – the Palm Pre – to the iPhone. Sadly this nice (and overdue) feature is only available to iPhone customers having jailbroken their devices.

It does not feature the Palm Pre’s multitasking gestures nor the ‘swipe up to exit’ functionality, but it seems to be a first good step into bringing the iPhone to the technological presence.

There is a free trial available via Cydia and Rockyourphone. It costs about 5US$.

Check this video and the Multifl0w website for further details:
